Accidental Shooting Investigation - Acadiana's Multi-Media News Station

Detectives with the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office are investigating an accidental shooting that was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

According to Acadia Parish Sheriff Wayne Melancon his office received a report of a shooting at Kathy Apartments with one victim being transported by Acadian Ambulance to American Legion Hospital where she was treated for a gunshot wound to her upper body.

Melancon stated that according to witnesses at the scene two individuals were playing with the weapon in an apartment when it accidentally discharged striking a female victim in the upper body.  The  victim was treated and later transferred to a hospital in Alexandria where her condition is unknown.

The investigation into this incident is continuing.
