The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office has partnered up with the Louisiana Sugar Cane Co-Op to keep residents safe on the road.
The Co-Op purchased two new speed trailers to help encourage motorists to slow down when approaching the St. John Sugar Mill in St. Martinville. In this collaborative effort, their main goal is to maintain a safe environment.
"So we thought maybe this....pay attention when they cross our facility."
The speed trailers will mainly be used during sugar cane season. During the remainder of the year the trailers will be used in across St. Martin Parish for other public safety purposes.
