Councilman Boudreaux says it's been brought to his attention that there's not enough being done about school discipline. Boudreaux says he's spoken with the superintendent and they've talked about a comprehensive approach to handling school discipline.
He says it's not only a school problem. It's everyone's problem. Boudreaux wants to see Lafayette Consolidated Government to get involved.
He says the Parish Detention Center could run into a capacity problem. LCG runs the center and school resource officers are from the city police department.
"Because it seems like we've been piecemeal this. Each entity has been trying to do some things to correct the problem and we're not getting very far and we're not aware of the impact it has on the next entity. So, I'm hoping we can come together have a small discussion and listen to some of Dr. Cooper's future plans and get everyone on board in support of that going forward."
