OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - A St. Landry Parish grand jury has indicted 35-year-old Robert Lee Heard Jr. on a charge of first-degree murder in the September stabbing death of his wife, Demetra Doyle Heard.
The Daily World reports Heard is accused in the death of his wife of only two months on or about Sept. 14. The indictment was returned last week.
Police say 35-year-old Demetra Heard was found dead from multiple stab wounds at the couple's home in Eunice.
Heard was arrested following a high-speed police chase in Shreveport, where he had allegedly fled following the death.
It was unclear whether Heard has an attorney.
