Woman Arrested For Riding Manatee - Acadiana's Multi-Media News Station

A Florida woman's stunt with this manatee has landed her in hot water.

Police arrested Ana Gloria Garcia Gutierrez for riding the endangered mammal.
They picked her up at the Sears in Saint Petersburg, where she works.
The sheriff's office says the 53-year-old rode the manatee in September but by the time deputies got to the beach, she was gone.

Witnesses gave them a description and photos and Gutierrez eventually turned herself in, saying she didn't know it was against the law.
Florida has a Manatee Sanctuary Act that makes it illegal to bother the creatures.
