Small Businesses Saturday

Black Friday and Cyber Monday, may have some new competition this holiday season. Small business Saturday is in their third year and comes the day after black Friday. Its main purpose is to drive more people to small, locally owned businesses. Last year, over one hundred million people came together to shop small in their communities. Local business owners say this Saturday will be there day to shine.

Co-Owner of Rukus in Lafayette says Black Friday is more for the big corporations and Saturday is more his bread and butter. Annie Venable with Leona Sue's Florist in Scott says shopping small local businesses helps keep money in their own community. American Express has even begun a national ad promoting the day and stressing the importance of shopping small. Over 70 percent of small businesses nationwide are expected to participate.
