The Christmas Grinch has come early this year, stealing from those less fortunate and those affected want it to stop.
The Vermilion Arc Resale store in Abbeville is a place that provides job opportunities for those with special needs while giving the public a place to donate or buy clothing and toys at a discounted rate. But over the past several years and recently, several people have stolen goods from the donation box by breaking the lock off the door.
It's a crime that affects a lot of people. According to store manager Tisha Hebert, around this time of year people rely on them for their holiday gifts. But it's not just the public that will be left without gifts if this keeps up.
The employees will be left without work. Hebert says the Arc gives those who are mentally handicapped a place of employment. They sort through the donations. Abbeville police have been notified and will keep an extra eye on the facility during their off hours.
Hebert is asking for the public to also keep an eye on the store, reporting anything that looks suspicious.
