It's obvious the holidays are here. That also means thousands of people will be hitting the roads and airports to spend the season with family and friends.
Over the past year the Lafayette Regional Airport has seen some of the most travelers in its history. But don't let that worry you. It's still a small local airport that can get you to where you're going without much of a wait or hassle, and that's what folks love about it.
Airport Director Greg Roberts says there's only one factor that could make your trip merry and avoid a possible disaster. Roberts recommends you arrive at the airport no later than an hour and a half before your flight. The airline ticket counters here in Lafayette physically shutdown 30 minutes before . Roberts says some flyers have experienced this and missed their flight.
"It's not that the airline people don't want to wait on you it's that they can't wait on you. Because the computers have locked out and those people have gone to the aircraft" says Roberts.
