Twinkies, Ding-Dongs and Wonder Bread could soon be a thing of the past. Hostess Bakeries has gone out of business effective Friday. The company blames a new contract its union imposed on it, so it's asking a federal bankruptcy court for permission to close its operation. Some 18,500 workers will lose their jobs at the companies bakeries and distribution centers around the nation. Thousands of Hostess fans around the country are stocking up on Hostess treats for what might be the last time. The company's assets are expected to auctioned off, so there's hope the snacks could return to store shelves.
