Abbeville Murder Arrest

On the afternoon of 11/11/12 at 3:28PM, the Abbeville Police Department responded to a complaint of shots fired in the area of the 400 block of South Lyman in Abbeville. Upon arrival, officers found that one subject had been shot multiple times behind the residence of 405 South Lyman Street. The victim was treated by Acadian Ambulance and transported to Abbeville General Hospital where he later died from the gunshot wounds.

Investigators were called out and began to investigate the shooting. After processing the scene and obtaining numerous statements from witnesses, APD began searching for Dedrick Maze. The search would not last long due to Dedrick Maze turning himself in to the Abbeville Police Department. Dedrick Maze was interviewed and booked on the charge of 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and a Hold for Probation and Parole. Dedrick Maze was booked and transported to Vermilion Parish Correctional Center.

The identity of the deceased male is being withheld until the next of kin have been notified.
