Lake Charles Downtown Development

Posted: Updated:

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - The Lake Charles City Council has decided on developer Roger Landry's proposal for redevelopment of a 3.5-acre downtown site.

The American Press reports ( ) Landry was one of three developers interested in the site. He offered to buy the land for $1.06 million and build a mixed residential and business facility.

The land, in the 600 block of Ryan Street, must be inspected for environmental problems before the purchase can be completed.

City officials used federal funds to clean the property before the former Sears store at the site was demolished in 2008.
