Students began moving into the newly renovated N.P. Moss, Wednesday. Principal Jody Duhon said the first day was hectic, but things are going smoother on day two.

"We are having a great day today. It's already the second day and its seems like everybody it settling."

New paint, tile and windows add to the historic building, which is being given a face-lift in order to accommodate more students. As part of Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper's turnaround plan, the school will be a home for in school suspended students. Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau said the school board is excited to finish the project, to add a safe place for students

"This is a landmark building in Lafayette, and to be able to rejuvenate it and provide a wonderful place for our children and staff is very exciting."

Billeadeau said there are still more renovations to be done, as they move to the next part of the nearly 4 million dollar project.

"Phase two is in the back part of the campus. Those are two classroom wings, and they are going to finish the cafeteria and the gym."

With a projected completion date for phase two set in mid-December, Duhon said she is excited to have her school whole once again.

"We're ready to not see jack hammers and not hear bulldozers throughout the course of the day. Of course, at this point we've already blocked that out, but we are looking forward to just having use of our full facility once again."
