Authorities in Lafourche Parish are looking for the person responsible for stabbing a woman and her two children, and setting their apartment on fire. The victims are 29-year-old Jacqueline Gautreaux Nieves, 20-month-old Isabella and 6-year-old Gabriella Nieves.
Deputies with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office say the fire most likely set to cover up the stabbings. No one has been arrested but, they say they've brought in Nieves' husband as a person of interest in the case.
Investigators don't know if more than one attacker was involved. The bodies have been sent for autopsy to determine if they died before the fire.
Authorities say this is the first homicide in the Lockport community in over 40 years.
