ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) - Registered sex offenders will have to report to a special education session on Halloween night.
The Town Talk reports (http://townta.lk/TUlMVk ) that the Alexandria District Probation and Parole Office will conduct the session between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Wednesday in Alexandria. The Alexandria District serves Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle and Rapides parishes.
All supervised cases are required to attend. All unsupervised cases are invited to attend.
The aim is to keep all sex offenders away from any contact with children on Halloween.
Sex offenders with a valid reason for not attending the meeting may be excused.
"Probation and Parole is an active partner with all law enforcement in working toward a safe community this Halloween," said David Gauthier, Probation and Parole District Office coordinator for sex offender matters.
