South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) unveiled renovations totaling 5-point 3 million dollars and today they celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. It was held at their gulf coast campus in Abbeville.
Governor Bobby Jindal and almost a dozen other elected officials were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Renovations include and expansion to their campus by almost 30 thousand square feet, upgrades to campus security, technology, and structural issues. The chancellor of SLCC and governor Jindal spoke about what renovations will do locally and nationally. Dr. Natalie Harder, SLCC Chancellor, said this will be a positive thing for Vermilion Parish.
Governor Bobby Jindal said those states and countries that invest in higher education will do better in today's economy. The gulf area campus was part of the technical college until it merged with SLCC back in July.
