OPD Arrest 5 for Obtaining Illegal Prescriptions

The Opelousas Police Department responded to a tip that led to the arrest of five suspects attempting to Illegally Prescribe, Dispense, or Possess Controlled Dangerous Substances.

Arrested on scene were 35yr old Shirley Taylor, 38yr old Odetta Glaude, 40yr old Roxie Glaude, 41yr old William Taylor, and 33yr old Gerald Thomas.  Opelousas Police set up surveillance and observed as the subjects arrived at an area Pharmacy.  Officers observed the three female suspects enter the pharmacy attempting to fill the illegal prescriptions as one of the male suspects waited outside.  The second male suspect parked his vehicle near the rear exit of the pharmacy which was later found to be designated as the vehicle to use when ready to leave the pharmacy.  Officers detained the suspects as they were attempting to have the presciptions filled and then transported them to the Opelousas Police Department.  Investigation in the matter is still pending at this point.  All five suspects arrested are being held in the Opelousas Police Department Jail on $10,000 bond.  Anyone with additional information can contact the Opelousas Police Department at (337)948-2500 or visit the web at crimetips@opelousaspd.com.
