Prescription Fraud

An Opelousas man is currently being held on a $103,000 bond after allegedly attempting to obtain prescription medications by fraud.

33-year-old Lester Bowman is currently being held in the Opelousas City Jail on four counts of unlawful prescribing, dispensing or illegally obtaining controlled dangerous substances and one count of simple escape.

Sgt. Jody White with the Opelousas Police Department says the case began when Bowman went into an Opelousas pharmacy and attempted to fill prescriptions for four different types of controlled medications.

It was unclear whether Bowman has an attorney.
