Students at Hanson High in Franklin learned self defense techniques from local law enforcement.
Chief Deputy Lonnie LaBouve and Major Gary Driskell recently visited Hanson Memorial High School to teach female students self defense techniques. The stun and run tactics taught focus on maneuvers that allow females to quickly and efficiently escape an attacker. Instructors explained to students the realistic danger an attacker poses. The benefits of the course are not just the self defense techniques, but confidence, a skill that may prove invaluable when fighting for ones life.
This self defense training course is provided free of charge as a public safety service by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. It is offered to women only in groups of ten or more. For more information on the self defense training course contact Major Gary Driskell at 985-384-1622.
