Breaux Bridge to Address Pit Bull Ordinance

In Breaux Bridge, city officials are proposing that a change in the pit bull ordinance be made. Right now pit bulls are not banned in the city, however the ordinance states that pit bull owners must have 100,000 dollars in insurance, an 8 foot tall fence, and must muzzle the animal when talking it for a walk.

Council members are hoping to address the pit bull ordinance at their November meeting, until then the ordinance will remain as is.

In the future the city may correct the ordinance to specify all *vicious animals* instead of singling out pit bulls.

The ordinance will also require additional study to approve any new changes.
