Police Investigate Overnight Fatality

Lafayette Police are investigating the death of a 24 year old Scott man.

On October 14, 2012, at approximately 11:50 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the intersection of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Eraste Landry Road regarding a major crash.

Traffic investigators indicate that the operator of a black 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche was traveling west on Eraste Landry Road when he disregarded the traffic signal at Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

The Chevrolet Avalanche struck a 2006 white Dodge Stratus that was traveling south on Ambassador Caffery Parkway.

The driver of the Dodge Stratus, 24 year old Daniel Short of Scott, was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet Avalanche, 46 year old Alfredo Tierrablanca of Texas, was arrested for OWI, Vehicular Homicide and Failure to Obey Traffic a Signal.

The crash remains under investigation.
