Acadia Parish Shooting Suspect Surrenders

A 23-year-old Rayne man accused of fatally shooting another man Saturday afternoon has turned himself into authorities, the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Jarrett M. Andrews, of Lyman St., was booked into Acadia Parish Jail around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on a count of first-degree murder, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Maxine Trahan said in a news release.

The Sheriff's Office received a call around 5 p.m. Saturday from a woman saying someone was shot in the 100 block of John Circle, Iota, Trahan said.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found Nathaniel Wiltz, 23, 200 block of Section Street, Rayne, dead from a gunshot wound, Trahan said.

Andrews' bail has been set at $350,000, the release says.

The Acadia Parish Coroner's Office and Iota Police Department assisted the Sheriff's Office in the investigation.
