The Mayor of Youngsville says it's a done deal. Mayor Wilson Viator signed the agreement to lease the donated property. He says a water storage tank will be built on it. Viator explains that about 50% of the water that flows into Youngsville comes from LUS.
So we're putting our water tank on this system to increase our volume, increase our pressure and give us another point where we can chlorinate water." The new 500,000 gallon storage tank will allow Youngsville to supply water to more customers. The city has a tank. They say it holds about 250,000 gallons.
Viator says the council already okay'd the agreement. It just needed to be signed. "We'll be putting in a lot of high volume pumps to be able to increase pressure; not only for water consumption, but to fight fires." The mayor says the land location next to Ascension Espiscoal High School is perfect.
The agreement is to give the school free water. "We'll be buying water from LUS for years to come. I hope we can stay on good terms with them and continue to buy water from them. It's really the way to go," adds Viator.
