Acadiana Center for the Arts Offers and Array of Exciting Events for Fall


Lafayette, LA - The AcA is thrilled to present another exciting season in the magnificent James Devin Moncus Theater. This season, September 2012 through June 2013, AcA will host 161 shows, performances, fundraisers, teachers' workshops and special community events in the beautiful state of the art facility. Here's what's coming up at the AcA:                

Tuesday, October 9, 2012 @ 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Education Workshop: Drama - The Missing Link in Literacy

In this workshop, teachers discover how to build vocabulary skills, improve reading comprehension, and expand writing techniques through drama integration.

This workshop is sponsored by LPSS's ArtTime grant, space is limited. This event will take place at J. Wallace James Elementary. To register call 233.7060 or email             

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 @ 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Education Workshop: The Drama of Science

Teaches will learn how to transform science lesions into active, student-centered explorations of earth, science, mechanical science, and biology through drama strategies such as expressive movement and enacted story.

Fugro Family Performance Series Presents Emilio and the Enchanted Cow by Marionetas de la Esquina

Tickets: $15 Adults/$10 Children. Ages 12 & under.
After his parents' separation, Emilio makes up an imaginary friend, a Cow, to help him understand his new life. Throughout the play, the manipulators are completely hidden so as not to distract attention from Emilio's story.

Our Second Annual Saints & Sinners fundraiser is sure to be a heavenly good time and some devilish fun. Be you a Saint or a Sinner, make sure to dress the part in masquerade or creative cocktail. With food, spirits and music by Roddie Romer and the Hub City All-Stars, you're in for a bash to rival all others; this isn't your usual fundraiser.

Saarlandisches Zupforchester (Saarland Mandolin Orchestra)

Tickets: $30/$22/$15

While common throughout Europe, American audiences rarely experience a mandolin orchestra, composed of more than 30 virtuoso guitarists, mandolin players and bassists, at times supplemented with other instruments. This is SZO's second US tour and AcA is happy to present this unique sound and music tradition.

Seausoleil Avec Michael Doucet

We are excited to kick off our Lake Charles Season with a very special performance by Grammy-Award winning Cajun Super-Group Beausoleil. Fronted by charismatic singer and fiddler extraordinaire Michael Doucet, this will be a special night of mournful waltzes, foot stomping two steps and a little bit of swing in the mix.
