An increase in sales tax collections last month extended a key indicator of growth in St. Landry Parish to 21 months.
Figures released by the school board, which tracks sales tax collections, showed st. Landry Parish took in nearly $4.7 million dollars in September.
That's about $9,600 more than in September 2011.
While the improvement was small, Frankie Bertrand with the Opelousas-St. Landry Parish Chamber of Commerce said the trend is a positive indicator for the parish's economy.
