Man Convicted in Girlfriend's Death

Posted: Updated:

CLINTON, La. (AP) - An East Feliciana Parish jury deliberated less than 45 minutes before convicting a Roseland man of second-degree murder in the death of his estranged girlfriend.

Thirty-four year old Antwoene Irving was found guilty Thursday.

State District Judge George H. Ware Jr. set sentencing for Nov. 7. Second-degree murder is punishable by life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Thirty-three-year-old Kiewanna Sopsher suffered fatal injuries when she either jumped or was pushed from her moving car while Irving was driving it April 5, 2011 in the Tangipahoa Parish community where the two lived.

Although Sopsher was killed in Tangipahoa Parish, Irving put her body back into the car and drove around for about three hours before he stopped the car in East Feliciana Parish.
