Three years ago Barry Landry's left hand was crushed by a machine while on the job. It was his dominant hand, his roping hand, the hand he would write, eat and shave with... But Barry Landry never gave up.
Even in the face of loss, he knew he would overcome this obstacle. After searching around and speaking with other amputees he found a team of doctors at Advanced Arm Dynamics in Dallas, Texas. They also never gave up on Barry's dream of returning to the life he had before the accident.
Over one hundred hours of office visits, countless hours of travel, fittings, customization, Barry Landry can finally say that he is the first man in Louisiana to receive the Michelangelo Prosthetic Hand. The hand has a flexion wrist, electric opposable thumb and allows its user to move in a more natural manner. Barry Landry has continued to rope and ride. This bionic cowboy is blazing a trail for all amputees.
The love and support from his family, friends and team at Advanced Arm Dynamics has helped him get back in the saddle. Robert Dodson, Clinical Manager, says that the technology in prosthetics continues to advance and the Michelangelo Prosthetic Hand allows greater functionality than has ever been offered before.
