The US 90 widening project is almost finished and you've probably noticed the j-turns and traffic signals that have popped up during its transformation.
The installation of j-turns will make left turns at certain intersections a thing of the past. Instead, you'll have to turn right and make a U-turn down the road.
According to The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) besides the widening of the highway, there is another good reason for the twenty million dollar project. Deidra Lockhart, the public information officer for DOTD, says by installing j-turns, T-bone type of collisions should be reduced because crossing parts of the highway will not be allowed.
Starting next week DOTD will begin work on additional j turns on Morgan Street and Verot school road. The US 90 widening project should be completed by the end of this fall. If you would like a complete list of roads that will be worked on visit their website at www.dotd.la.gov
