
Unemployment is down in Lafayette. That's according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The job market made gains from July to August. Last month, unemployment was at 5%. down from 5.5%. Statewide, unemployment fell to 7.3%. The agency tracked drops in all 8 metro areas in the state.
But the number of large companies looking to add jobs dropped and that's according to the CEO's themselves. A survey shows that only 29-percent plan to increase hiring over the next six months. That's down from 36% in June. CEO's say they're worried about budget cuts and tax increases planned for next year.
