New Iberia Woman Shot In Her Home

Posted:

Authorities in New Iberia are searching for a suspect who fired shots into a home, striking a 24 year old victim.

On September 17, 2012 at approximately 8:14 p.m. deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the 400 Block of North Landry Drive. As deputies arrived they learned that a 24 year old female had been shot in the hand. The victim was inside her residence when an unknown suspect fired several shots into the home. The victim was struck in her hand by one of the bullets. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

Detectives believe the victim was the intended target of the shooting and the suspect possibly knew the victim. They also believe the suspect possibly fled on foot due to witnesses not seeing a vehicle in the area at the time of the shooting.

Sheriff Ackal asks that if anyone has information on the shooting to please contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3711.
