An Opelousas woman was arrested after making several threatening phone calls and sending threatening text messages to Opelousas residents including the Chief of Police and other members of the Opelousas Police Department.
During investigation, Opelousas Police detained and arrested 31 year old Jeana Thomas with (8) counts of Cyber Stalking and (6) counts of Improper Telephone Communications.
During questioning, Jeana Thomas stated that she was depressed and lonely and sometimes played games on the phone and on her Facebook page by contacting unknown individuals.
The Opelousas Police Officers involved were sent several threats which included references to the recent deaths of police officers in other local and national jurisdictions. Additional calls received were sexually explicit referring to Officers and their wives which also included messages threatening to physically harm the officers.
Several hang-up calls from the inception of the offenses were also documented with the case. Chief Perry Gallow stated that this type of behavior will not be tolerated by anyone and all resources will be used to protect the officers singled out by this individual.
Chief Gallow reminds the public that when officers are distracted by this type of non-sense, it creates a safety issue for the Officer and his family as well as the public he has sworn to protect. Jeana Thomas is presently being held in the Opelousas Police Department jail without bond.
