Mother and Two Children Escape House Fire Unharmed


A mother and her two children escaped an early morning house fire in Scott.

On September 7, 2012 at 4:28 AM, Scott Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire located at 3509 Mills, in the Scott area. Upon arrival units observed a mobile home with fire venting through the roof of the bedroom portion of the structure.

Initial crews made entry into the home in an effort to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control at 04:50 AM and contained to the bedroom and bathroom area, with major smoke damage throughout the remaining structure.

The homeowner, a mother and her two children, ages 6 and 1, were home at the time of the fire and able to escape without injury.

An investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Units from Duson and Carencro responded to assist.
