United Way Gulf Coast Disaster Fund


September 4, 2012; Opelousas, La– St. Landry–Evangeline United Way has joined neighboring United Way of Acadiana, United Way of Iberia, and United Way for South Louisiana to help neighbors that will need a helping hand now that Hurricane Isaac has done its damage.

The Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund has been launched to leverage resources and make the greatest impact in long-term recovery efforts for citizens exclusively living in Acadia, Assumption, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, Lafourche, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne and Vermilion parishes following Hurricane Isaac.

The United Ways of the Gulf Coast Fund was launched through the efforts and at the request of the gulf coast United Ways during the BP oil spill, and has now been reactivated.  St. Landry-Evangeline United Way supports and is promoting the Gulf Coast Fund and encourages donors to give if they want to make a broader impact that extends across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region.

Financial donations to either fund can be made by going online at www.uwsle.org and clicking the hurricane image on the home page, linking to donor options.  Donors can also call St. Landry-Evangeline United Way at (337) 942-7815 or deliver donations to 311 W. Vine St., in Opelousas, La. or call or deliver to local United Ways at United Way of Acadiana – 215 E. Pinhook Road or P O Box 52033, Lafayette, LA (337-706-1229), United Way of Iberia - 449 East St. Peter Street, New Iberia, LA (337-364-0424), or United Way for South Louisiana - 7910 Main Street, Suite 460 Houma, LA (985-879-2461).

If giving to the Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund, please make check donations payable to the Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund and indicate specific parish designations in the MEMO field.
