The 2012 Great American Seafood Cook off was Saturday.
Sixteen chefs from across the country competed in New Orleans this weekend for the title of best seafood chef.
The event is now in its 9th year and has become the most prestigious culinary seafood cook off title in the country. The competition has featured many 'rising stars' and celebrity chefs over the years.
The event emphasizes the importance of cooking with domestic seafood and encourages the use of products from sustainable fisheries.
The winners were: Gregory Gourdet, from Portland who placed first. Keith Frentz, from Covington placed second. Jack Gilmore, from Austin came in third.
