Serb Soldiers Killed In Explosion

Officials say two Serbian soldiers have been killed trying to clear an old minefield near their barracks on Mount Kopaonik in Southern Serbia.

The defense ministry says the explosion was apparently not a mine, but an unexploded cluster bomb that was dropped during NATO's 78 bombing campaign that ended the war and stopped the crackdown by Serb forces on Kosovo Albanian separatists.

Hundreds of mine fields, and un exploded bombs still remain in Serbia and pose an ongoing threat to not only the Serbian military and its efforts to clear them, but also to civilians as well.
