State police say at 5:45 Tuesday morning a truck was clocked traveling 86 miles per hour near Butte Larose.
A high speed chase along Interstate10 resulted in a crash. A truck plowed into the back of a Breaux Bridge house. But the chase didn't end here. The suspect fled on foot, leading authorities on a massive search that lasted for hours.
Troopers say the truck was speeding on I-10. They say the driver refused to pull over, and from there, the situation escalated. Troopers found him hiding by a nearby home. The chase began at the Henderson Exit, and ended on highway 328 in Breaux Bridge. One witness says she was startled by her barking dogs and that's when she says she knew something was wrong.
"The gentleman that had the dogs and some troopers behind him came up. One of them had their guns drawn, which made me a little nervous because if someone jumped out I didn't know what was going to happen so I stayed in the house and kept safe and sound" says neighbor Stacy Montesano.
Troopers tell us no one was inside the house at the time of the crash. They say two other people were inside the truck. But with one arrest, the search is over.
