Four Suspects Charged With Terrorism

Posted: Updated:

Investigators with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Persons Unit have charged four individuals with Terrorism. These charges are related to the May 18th shooting death of 43 year old Ray Ryan in the 200 block of Marigny Circle.

Today, at a press conference, the names of those individuals, who were picked up earlier in the morning, were released. Eric Johnson AKA Viscious (44), Phillip Deen (34), Devin Johnson (24), and Rebecca Seraile (20) were allegedly involved in a shooting of an apartment complex on the night of the murder. Investigators believe during this incident, a stray bullet struck and killed Ryan.

Captain Kip Judice said they do not believe Ryan was the intended victim of the crime. Judice also said there were other "unidentified individuals" involved, and additional arrests are expected before the end of the investigation.

The terrorism charge comes from a State Statute, that includes acts of intentional aggravated criminal damage to property. In this case, the "intentional aggravated criminal damage" is the actual shooting of the apartment complex.

The investigation into the murder of Ryan remains on-going. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 232-9211.
