NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Opening day of the Essence Music Festival is kicking off with events geared for the young.
Crime, education and issues affecting today's youth will be tackled during the day at the Morial Convention Center before teen musical acts begin at the Superdome.
The four day event features the best music and the best artists live at the Superdome. Each night the Main Stage will be electrified with performances by the hottest stars in R&B, soul and gospel. Don't miss each night's line up, including a performance by The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin who will receive the first ever "Power Award!" Doors open at 6 p.m. each night
