
Deputies with the Lafayette Sheriff's Office found a toddler walking along a country road just outside of Scott over the weekend. According to witnesses, a child was walking in the 300 block of Le Violon road at around 5:30 Sunday morning.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found a four year old little girl wandering along the street. The child was unable to communicate her address or relative information.
Deputies began a door-to-door canvass of the neighborhood.at about 10:30 AM, deputies found an open rear door to a home in the 100 block of Logan Street near where the child had been found.
The child's care givers were sleeping inside the home. According to the parents the child was asleep on a couch when they went to sleep.
The child apparently awoke and went outside through a locked rear door and eventually wandered to Le Violon Street.
No arrests have been made the child is now in the state's custody.
