Mark Hebert sworn in as St. Mary Parish Sheriff


A swearing in ceremony was held Monday morning at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin, Louisiana for Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Sheriff Hebert has an extensive history with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office. In his 29 years with the department, he has served many rolls.

In 1983 he started in Patrol. He has also worked in Narcotics and SWAT and in Criminal Investigation. At one time he served as the jail warden.

He has also performed as Major over Criminal Patrol, Narcotics and Investigations.

In 2011, he was promoted to Chief Deputy, and in July 2011 he was appointed Interim Sheriff when Sheriff David Naquin retired.

In October 2011 he was elected sheriff.

Sheriff Hebert is a native of Franklin.
