The Jennings City Council has approved a 2 percent pay raise for most city workers and a 5.2 percent rate increase for water, sewer and trash collection. The raises are part of the new budget, which takes effect July 1. The across-the-board pay increase covers more than 120 full-time and some part-time employees. Mayor Terry Duhon said Tuesday the raises will cost the city $230,000. City residents will also pay more for water, sewer and trash collection, under a measure approved Tuesday by the council. Duhon said the increases will range from $1.50 to $2 for most customers. He says customers who use more water would see a higher rate.
