A new law will allow Louisiana drivers to use smart phones or any other electronic device to show proof of insurance coverage. Following strong support by legislators... Governor Bobby Jindal signed the bill into law last week making Louisiana the third state, after Idaho and Arizona, in the U-S to enact such a law.
Under the new law, drivers must have images or photocopies of a policy card or documents when showing coverage to authorities to prove they have the proper forms in place to operate a vehicle.
Lawmakers say having electronic-proof will benefit all motorists as smart phones are becoming more wide-spread among drivers. The law goes into affect August 1st.
