Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to 307 Jarib Lane in Lake Charles Monday to investigate a complaint regarding a possible marijuana plant growing in a window of the home.
When deputies arrived, they could clearly observe the suspected marijuana plant sitting in the window of the home. After speaking with the homeowner, Fred B. Vidrine, Jr., 38, deputies received permission to search the home. After carefully observing the plant, deputies confirmed the plant was marijuana and discovered it contained 8 smaller plants growing, with the largest being over 3 feet tall. Deputies also recovered several instruments used to smoke marijuana, syringes, and numerous CDS IV pills (Xanax and Soma) that were not prescribed to Vidrine, from inside the home.
Deputies also discovered a 5 year old boy inside the home. The boy was removed from the home and placed with family members.
Vidrine was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with producing, manufacturing, distribution of marijuana; 2 counts of possession of CDS IV (Xanax and Soma); possession of drug paraphernalia; and illegal use of CDS in the presence of a minor.
Judge Wilford Carter set his bond at $10,000.
