BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The nine schools in the University of Louisiana System have received permission to increase annual car registration fees for students from $35 to up to $100 starting in the fall.
However, system spokeswoman Jackie Tisdell says none of the schools appeared before the system's Board of Supervisors on Monday seeking the higher fees.
Tisdell says the registration fee policy was adjusted to accommodate the University of New Orleans, which moved into the system this year. UNO currently charges $100 for its fees.
Before Monday's decision, the system policy limited vehicle registrations to $35 at its campuses.
