LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Sulphur man has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide in connection with the 2011 fatal drive-by shooting of Stephin W. Bergeron. The American Press reports. Devin Blake Badon was charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder for his alleged part in the shooting. Officials say the attempted murder charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement Monday, and the second-degree murder charge was amended to negligent homicide. Badon stood trial in February, but jurors were deadlocked after seven hours of deliberation. Judge Kent Savoie (suh-VOY') declared a mistrial. David Caleb Fontenot is also charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. He is scheduled to stand trial Aug 20. Savoie said Badon will be sentenced Aug 22.
