Rayne House Fire Claims Four Lives - Acadiana's Multi-Media News Station

A house fire has claimed lives of four children.  It took place last night at 11:59 in the 1500 block of Edith Street in Rayne.  The Rayne Police Department and Fire Department responded to the call, and when authorities arrived they discovered the bodies of four deceased children inside the building.  They later learned that the mother, 26 year old Shaqueta McDade had left her children, ages 2, 5, 7 and 8, unattended in the home.  She has been charged with four counts of negligent homicide.  The Acadia Parish Coroners Office and Louisiana State Fire Marshall are assisting in the investigation.
