Top Dog Names of 2011

Bella Twilight"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ just spent weeks as the No. 1 movie at the box office, and it looks like the popularity of the Twilight series has even sunk its teeth into what people are naming both their dogs and babies.

According to Banfield Pet Hospital's list of the Top Dog Names for 2011, ranking at No. 1 is … Bella.

The name Isabella is extremely popular for humans, too – last year it ranked at No. 1 on a list by BabyCenter, while this year it dropped ever-so-slightly to No. 3.

While the name Charlie also dropped in popularity this year on the BabyCenter list – maybe because of Charlie Sheen? – the name ranked at No. 9 for pets. This does seem appropriate, since Sheen has often been described as a dog (and not the four-legged kind we love).

Banfield, the world's largest veterinary practice, based the list on the pet names in its patient database with more than 780 hospitals across the United States.

Here are the top 25 dog names in Banfield's list:

1. Bella

2. Max
