The case of Norman the Nutria Rat is headed to an Abbeville courtroom this summer.
In 2009 Rebecca White filed a lawsuit against Walmart after she claimed a nutria inside of the store startled her causing her to run over her foot with a shopping cart.
It appeared employees at the store were aware of the nutria and had named him Norman, now a trial date is set for July 30th
White's attorney, Anthony Fontana said white required surgery for broken bones and nerve damage after her cart rolled over her foot.
Here's how he summed up his client's case back in 2009.
"She fills up her basket, heads toward the coke section and all of a sudden this big nutria rat with a long tail and big teeth comes running right at her, she thinks the rat's attacking her, she tries to protect herself and the cart goes over her foot."
Walmart has hired a Lafayette law firm to defend its case.
