
Thirty six year old Carencro native Craig Cormier was taking a lunch break in the port city of Carupano Venezuela with some co-workers when he was hit by a bullet intended for someone else. Cormier was working for Intermoor Incorporated an oil and gas company based in Houston. He was working a job in Carupano, a seaside town in Venezuela, something he had done on and off for two years.
Craig Cormier was in Venezuela to repair a ship named the Turquoise on January 27th. The second night he was there, a fight broke out between two men on a boardwalk.
One of the locals went up to another local and put a gun to his head, the gunman started firing. Cormier was hit in the head by a stray bullet and died on the scene. His body was recently returned to Acadiana. Funeral services for Craig Cormier will be at one o'clock Saturday afternoon at True Vine Ministries in Lafayette.
