Acadiana's News Leader Acadiana Soldier Killed in Iraq

A Crowley born soldier was killed in Iraq by an IED explosive while traveling in a military convoy.

26 year old Staff Sergeant Nicholas Bellard leaves behind his wife, Veronica, and two year old daughter, Eva.

Bellard's aunt told Eyewitness news today, that Bellard's father, uncle and three brothers flew to Delaware to meet and escort the casket to it's final resting place in San Antonio, Texas.

Bellard was serving his fourth tour of duty overseas; his second in Iraq.
