NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A witness has testified that a former New Orleans police officer shot and killed a man while he was running away. Now-retired Officer Linda Howard was on duty with Officer David Warren when he shot Henry Glover, just days after Hurricane Katrina. The trial resumes today.
HOUMA, La. (AP) - The Louisiana attorney general has told the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Authority that it cannot use a single contractor to design and build new projects at the airport. The airport's director says the authority had asked if the airport could use a design-build construction method for a potential project.
GRETNA, La. (AP) - The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has fired a deputy it says admitted to procuring the prescription painkiller hydrocodone for a family member. The sheriff says 30-year-old Jon-Michael Adam Norris made the admission following a 45-day investigation.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - An FBI agent has testified that some of the text messages a former BP engineer deleted from his cellphone contained information that could have been evidence in the Justice Department's investigation of the company's 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Special Agent Kelly Bryson was the first witness to testify when prosecutors began presenting their case yesterday in Kurt Mix's trial on obstruction of justice charges.
